Opera con Brio, LLC, is an opera-education program, now in its 34th year, conducted by Richard B. Beams, opera lecturer and reviewer and past recipient of NEH Fellowships in both Opera and Literature and Verdi Studies. Classes, ranging from seven to fourteen weeks, include lectures, discussion and recorded musical examples. Classes are most often focussed on the works of one composer or occasionally on a comparative theme such as The Many Faces of Orfeo.
Opera con Brio participants have traveled all over the world to special opera productions and opera festivals to experience works they have studied through Opera con Brio offerings. Opera con Brio tours are always associated with specific Opera con Brio courses and are open only to registrants in those courses. Beginning in 2004, Opera con Brio tours have been offered in conjunction with World Cultural Tours.
